Dance Science Students Produce All Aspects Of Choreography Showcase

Students in the Dance Science program performed their work during a Student Choreography Showcase on Dec. 8 and 9 at the Dance Black Box Theater at the Physical Education Activity Program Building.

The 10 performances were entirely produced by the students, including costume design, lighting and choreography. The dances ranged from modern, contemporary and jazz dance, with more than 30 dancers alongside 10 student choreographers.

Carisa Armstrong, program director and associate professor, said the show was organized by a student committee of juniors and seniors with minimal faculty guidance. To highlight the student work, the faculty will choose two productions to represent the program at the American College Dance Association’s South-Central Conference in March, she said.

The Student Choreography Showcase Committee consisted of seniors Madison Calvez, Terra Fiedler, Cally Hall, Grace Haus and Brenna Street; and juniors Sommer Edgerson, Macie Everitt, Karli Mason, Lindsay Walker, Bailey Zettler and Lenzy Zettler.
