‘Brushes and Beams’ Exhibition Showcases Light And Art
Dive into the mesmerizing world of light and its captivating role in art in “Brushes and Beams: An Evening of Light, Color & Creativity” at Forsyth Galleries in the Memorial Student Center. The free program and hands-on cyanotype activity is Tuesday, July 18, from 6 to 8 p.m., and is targeted for preteens to adults. It is presented by Jenn Korolenko, curator of education for Forsyth Galleries, and Jeanne Goodman, clinical associate professor in the School of Performance, Visualization and Fine Arts.
The event steps into the Victorian-era art collection and exhibition “Gas Lighting: An Exploration of Light and Shadow,” and will shed light (pun intended) on the fascinating interplay among light, color theory and artistic masterpieces, and how different works of art can transform when viewed under various light levels. Attendees will see the secrets of how light exposure and paper conservation can breathe new life into age-old artworks, preserving their magic for generations to come.
And attendees will get their creative juices flowing with a hands-on cyanotype activity. No experience is necessary. The workshop focuses on self-expression, experimentation and having fun.
Reserve your spot and get ready to see art in a whole new light.
