Day of Dance Offers High School Students a View of Texas A&M Dance Program
Students can experience a day in the life of a dance major at the Texas A&M Day of Dance on Friday, Feb. 3, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Room 207 in the Physical Education Activity Program Building (PEAP). The event is geared toward high school juniors and seniors who are interested in majoring in dance at Texas A&M and is open to ages 15-23.
Students will spend the day taking three classes from dance faculty — ballet, modern and Pilates/wellness. The last class will end at 2:30 p.m. Carisa Armstrong, academic program director, will then talk in more detail about the program. Parents are welcome to attend this portion.
The event can be used as an audition for Fall 2023 admission into the dance program for high school seniors, transfer students or change of major students. Please fill out and bring the audition application form and the additional required materials listed on the cover page of the audition application with you to check in for the event. For more audition information, please email Grae Robinson at graerobinson@tamu.edu.
The first class begins at 9:30 a.m. No late check-ins are accepted. For an audition to be complete, expect to stay for the entire day. Please bring snacks. The lunch break has been extended to allow you to leave for lunch if needed. A parent must accompany a minor if they leave for lunch.
The cost is $50 at the registration site. Parking near the Physical Education Activity Program Building is available in Lot 100 C. This lot is on the corner of Penberthy Blvd and John Kimbrough Road. Parking can either be paid hourly via a kiosk on the corner of these roads, or a one-day visitor permit may be purchased for $10. These permits are available for purchase from the transportation website.
