Dean’s Graduate and Doctoral Research Fellowship Program

The College of Performance, Visualization and Fine Arts supports exceptional graduate and doctoral students engaged in advanced research across all of the college’s scholarly domains including visual art, performance studies, dance, music, game design, theatre, visualization and other creative fields. The Dean’s Graduate Scholarship Program aims to foster the growth of the next generation of artists, innovators and technical talent within the arts and technical art industries.

Initiated in spring 2024, the Dean’s Graduate Research Fellowship Program is funded by the Office of Research and the Office of Academic Affairs within the College of Performance, Visualization and Fine Arts. The selection process for graduate and doctorate fellows is competitive, based on academic excellence and the relevance of their graduate research to specific areas within the school.

In alignment with the college’s mission, special consideration will be given to applications and research proposals that exhibit an interdisciplinary and collaborative approach. This is a funding opportunity to enhance and support graduate and doctoral student research. Research projects supporting faculty research will not be considered.

Funding Award

Awardees will receive $2,000 per academic year for up to three years to support their research and creative works.

Awardees are required to participate in semesterly research meetings held during the fall and spring semesters. These meetings serve as platforms for engagement in seminars focused on professional development and careers in the arts and related fields.

Furthermore, awardees agree to showcase their research at the college’s annual Student Research Symposium. This symposium not only provides fellows with opportunities to present their work but also facilitates a broader understanding of the diverse research initiatives supported by the Offices of Research and Academic Affairs within the College of Performance, Visualization and Fine Arts.
