Minor Overview

Traditional art and digital courses help to broaden students’ skill sets in analog and digital tools. Courses provide an understanding of tools and processes which can then be specialized through electives including painting, sculpting and time-based media. The 16-credit-hour minor provides a broad orientation to the visual arts.

Applicants must have a 3.25 or better overall GPA, have completed less than 70 hours and submit a 10-piece portfolio to be considered for the program. Tameka Barnett serves as the minor advisor for the college. Reach out to her or Jill Honeycutt with questions or concerns about the minor in Studio Art. Their emails are tbarnett@mays.tamu.edu and jhoneycutt@tamu.edu.

Application review does not guarantee admission. Spots are limited. Applications are due March 6, 2026, for Fall 2026 admission. Applicants will be emailed on or before March 20, 2026, with an admission decision.
