This program trains you to be an artist able to engage with the challenges of the current and future theatre industry, providing you with the tools to create your own work as collaborative, multi-hyphenate artists able to work across disciplines and production roles. Our supportive faculty have devised a curriculum and co-curricular production season that empowers you to do just that. Collaborative creation encourages community building, providing a safe space for you to build the skills and knowledge you need to become a leader in the global theatre industry.

Bachelor of Fine Arts

The B.F.A. in Theatre prepares you for careers onstage, backstage and offstage through collective creation and collaborative production, rooted in an ethic of care. The program is centered in a practice-based approach to the many facets of theatre-making, including performance, design and production.

Undergraduate Minor

Devised Theatre

Explore the collective efforts of an ensemble of artists to create a performance from the ground up. This minor introduces the form, trains students to work with a variety of sources and includes a studio course in which students create original performances. Students gain the essential skills in devising and the collective creation of original works of theatre.

AI in the Arts

Designed to meet the growing demand for integrating artificial intelligence in artistic practice, this minor equips students with the skills to incorporate AI into visual arts, dance, theatre, interactive media and music. The program provides a comprehensive education on the use of AI tools, emphasizing critical decision-making, ethical considerations and social implications.

 

 

Audition Requirements and Day of Theatre

Ready to audition for the B.F.A. in Theatre? All applicants, including incoming freshmen, transfers and change-of-majors, complete an audition as part of the admission process. If the audition process feels overwhelming, consider joining our annual Day of Theatre on Feb. 26, 2027. During this immersive day on the Texas A&M campus, you’ll test-drive classes and meet our students and faculty. You can even use your participation in Day of Theatre as your official audition. Day of Theatre is open to any students ages 15 and up. Experience a day in the life of a Theatre major and decide if our program is the right fit for you.
