Scholarship Application Details
First-generation college students majoring in an undergraduate or graduate degree within the College of Performance, Visualization and Fine Arts are eligible for the Sony Student Success Scholarship. By definition, a first-generation college student is a student whose parent(s)/legal guardian(s) did not attend or complete a bachelor’s degree from a four-year accredited university.
First-generation full-time students (12 or more credits) and first-generation part-time students (6-11 credits) can apply for the Sony Student Success Scholarship. Funding amount is determined by first-generation status; full-time and part-time status; GPA; financial necessity; involvement in academic program and/or the college; and the student’s first-generation essay, resume and prompt questions.
All applications are scored by a committee, and scoring is based on a standardized rubric. These are tuition–applied scholarships spread between the fall and spring semesters.
