Application Details

Undergraduate or Graduate students within the College of Performance, Visualization and Fine Arts who are presenting, engaging, traveling with the Academic Program and its faculty to survey and expand on education related to the field of study, or assisting faculty in research are eligible. The research presentation, artwork, or essay on interest area of study should be submitted and accepted to that conference or program prior to application submission. Awarded funds will only become available once presentation acceptance has been confirmed. Funds may be used for airfare, hotel, registration fees, and/or transportation to and from the airport/hotel, not toward tuition. You’ll be informed to make the necessary travel arrangements yourself and later reimbursed via direct deposit for the purchases.

The Research Travel Scholarship requires two essays to submit: one full page “Cover Essay” before your travels, and one full page “Outcome Essay” after your travels. The “Cover Essay” must include the description of your research, progress and plans, the purpose and benefit, links to costs, and how these funds will assist you on your research journey. The “Cover Essay” must be submitted below along with your initial scholarship application form. An “Outcome Essay” must be submitted to the to the Scholarship Coordinator, pvfascholarships@tamu.edu, no later than 30 days after the last day of travel. Both the “Cover Essay” and “Outcome Essay” should be a minimum of one full page each typed and follow an APA or MLA style of format. “Outcome Essay” should be about what the research, presentation, or educational learning outcomes meant for you and how it academically impacted you. Describe the learning outcome, expectations, the purpose of going, the benefit of going, and what your part was in attending or the part of those you accompanied that attended.

Requirements

  • Minimum GPR
    • Undergraduate Student: 3.0
    • Graduate Student: 3.5
  • Full-time student in the College of Performance, Visualization and Fine Arts
    • Undergraduate Students: Enrolled in 12 credit hours at Texas A&M University and declared major in the College of Performance, Visualization and Fine Arts.
    • Graduate Students: Enrolled in 9 credit hours at Texas A&M University and declared major in the College of Performance, Visualization and Fine Arts.

Steps to Apply and Application Deadline

Step One

Complete an application and submit it along with other criteria as noted below.

  • Current students in the College of Performance, Visualization and Fine Arts should complete the travel application and return it along with your cover letter, resume, excel budget that may include additional funding sources, proof of acceptance into a conference or program trip (email or letter will suffice).

Step Two

There is no deadline for this scholarship as it is ongoing and will be accepted throughout the academic year. Please submit all criteria through the form below. Send all documents as a PDF. Notification typically occurs within 3-4 weeks upon receiving your application.
