Faculty Awarded The Presidential Transformational Teaching Grant

Over the Winter Break, the TAMU Dance Faculty was awarded the Presidential Transformational Teaching Grant (PTTG) from the President of the University. The PTTG program is a seed-grant program that is part of the Presidential Excellence Fund. The goal of the program is to impact the University’s commitments to advance transformational learning including enhancing discovery and innovation and expanding impact on our community, state, nation, and world.

The funding from this grant will help support the rental costs, production costs, and music rights for the evening-length performance this spring. This grant will also allow for the project to progress past Stage 1 of the project onto Stages 2 and 3. Stage 2 will include a stage version of the performance in order to educate middle school and high school students about the Holocaust. This stage will include lesson plans teachers can use prior to and after the peformance. The final stage’s goal is to share the project beyond our Bryan-College Station community. This stage will be a dance film version of the project created by cinematographers Igor Kraguljac and “V” Shetti.
