MSTC 101 – Final Project
Risa Trujillo ’27“I wanted to experiment with live sounds and transform them into something unique. Using my clarinet, I combined instrumental techniques with sound manipulation in DaVinci to create textures that maintain clarity while pushing boundaries. I explored self-referential loops and layering to shape the sound, aiming for a balance between calmness — like the weight of rain and a subtle eeriness, something uncertain and intriguing.”
Bottled Echo Chamber
Joon Cho“This piece captures the unique sounds that can be made from bottles. The main background sound was filmed using an empty metal bottle while the smaller clips were filmed using a glass bottle, plastic bottle, plastic bag clip and sounds from the rain. Once the clips were filmed, I overlaid the video files to allow two sounds to play at one time. I also added an echo to the audio files to enhance and customize the sound. The echo is the most important element of this piece and is why this piece can be categorized as technology-based art.”

Bailey Zettler ’25 began choreographing and designing the lighting for “Obstinate” last spring during a Concert Choreography course taught by Bedford. It was performed in the Student Choreography Showcase in January and at Perpetual Motion in February. “Obstinate” started as a movement study. Zettler created a theme in the piece based on the performers repeating a motion with their arms.
