“Energ-ii” is dedicated to the many manifestations of energy — physical, creative and historical — and how they can be expressed through sound and image. The performance is centered around the vibraphone, whose metallic timbre and long resonance make it uniquely suited to embody the invisible movements of energy.
Audiences will hear music that evokes the crackle of static electricity, the vibrations of radiation, the relentless drive of kinetic force and the spark of creativity itself as energy. A work featuring water transports the audience into a living sculpture of flowing sound, while other pieces reflect on the legacy of Oppenheimer and the atomic age, where energy’s dual nature of creation and destruction is most apparent.
Adding a powerful visual dimension, Michael Bruner’s digital visualizations triggered by sound in real time expand the performance into a multisensory experience. Projected images shimmer, ripple and pulse alongside the music, making the intangible vibrations of energy visible.
Together, these works form a meditation on the sounds and sights of energy: intangible yet undeniable, dangerous yet beautiful, endlessly transformative. “Energ-ii” invites listeners to experience energy not just as power, but as vibration, resonance and imagination made audible and visible.
