Notes
Application
Students must receive signed approval from the College of Performance, Visualization & Fine Arts Undergraduate Program Coordinator. After approval, application is completed through the student’s home college/school/department.
Eligibility
Students applying for a Minor in Graphic Design must have a minimum 3.25 GPR overall with less than 70 completed hours. Note that some colleges/schools/departments do not permit their students to minor.
Satisfactory Completion of Courses
To be awarded the Minor in Graphic Design and receive transcript recognition, students must maintain a “C” average or better in all courses completed as part of the Minor in Graphic Design.
Transfer Courses
The student’s home college/school/department may grant, with agreement from the College of Performance, Visualization & Fine Arts, transfer credit for no more than six credit hours. Transfer credit will not be accepted for any 300 or 400 level course.

Portfolio Guidelines
An ideal portfolio should be an easy to follow representation of how you solve visual problems in a creative way. This can include graphic design, illustration, layout design, UI/UX design, collage, mixed-media, digital works, as well as any other design mediums that display your ability as a designer. These works can be from college course work, high school course work, personal projects, paid opportunities, etc.
Applications without portfolio links will not be considered.
Basic Requirements:
- 10 finished artistic works
- Descriptions of each work including medium
- Timeframe of each completed work
- Additional, but not required: process images that support the 10 works above
Portfolio Platform Suggestions
There are several online platforms for submitting your portfolio. A few recommendations below:
- Google slideshow with images, descriptions, and dates.
- Be sure there is no password, if so, please list in email body.
- Be sure you share permissions to view.
- Online website with images, descriptions, and dates.
- i.e. Wix, Squarespace, Adobe, Behance, Artstation, etc.
- Online PDF with images, descriptions, and dates.
- Feel free to share with Google with a link.
- Be sure you share permissions to view.
