BIOGRAPHY

Stephanie Oliver recently graduated from UT Dallas with her Ph.D. in Visual and Performing Arts. She has six years of teaching experience as the instructor of record for a variety of college courses and in a range of subject areas.

Her research interests include the representation of gender and sexuality in contemporary American films, feminist film theory, genre and auteurism. The specific genres she is interested in include erotic thrillers, horror and gangster films. She is also interested in film history and documentary studies.

Stephanie is currently teaching Introduction to Film Analysis, and is also set to teach Senior Seminar in Film Studies in the near future. Her work has been published in Senses of Cinema and The Projector.

She has presented her research at the SCMS annual conference as well as the Console-ing Passions annual conference. Her dissertation explores the debates surrounding the erotic thriller and argues for a more complex understanding of the genre as a whole.
