BIOGRAPHY
John Boran Jr. received his Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Products of Design from The School of Visual Arts in New York City in 2019. His thesis entitled, There and Never Back Again: Design in the Next Age of Space Exploration is a body of work focused on future consumer brands and products for Martian Astronauts. He joined Texas A&M University faculty full-time in 2024 as an instructional assistant professor, graphic design. He has 10+ years as a designer with studios in New York City, Houston, and Austin. His most prestigious professional work was as a senior contract designer on Emily Oberman’s team at Pentagram, where he designed identities in film, streaming, video games, and technology companies. He is the faculty advisor for the AIGA (The Professional Association for Design) Student Chapter at Texas A&M University and he continues to be a practicing graphic and type designer.
