Perform With Us

We provide opportunities for students to develop technical proficiency in performance through individual lessons and ensemble participation, and exploration of contemporary and global musical genres. This holistic approach ensures that students not only master their craft, but also cultivate skills transferable to the contemporary workplace with a versatile and unique artistic identity. Individual performance instruction courses are offered in brass; composition; electronic music; guitar; percussion; strings; voice; and woodwind. Our performance ensemble courses specialize in experimental and improvised music; guitar; steel pan; opera and musical theatre; percussion; trombone; and video game and film music.

Bachelor of Fine Arts

The B.F.A. in Music Performance fosters a stylistically open approach by blending technical instruction, individualized mentoring and professional development training. Coursework includes musical performance, interdisciplinary collaboration, music theory and musicianship, music technology and music business.

Music

Students can pursue musical interests and develop a fundamental understanding of music through individual and group performance, music theory, musicianship and music history. The minor provides opportunities to develop skills on their preferred instruments, or to learn new instruments and styles.

Music Technology

Novel ways to use technology to make music is the focus of this minor, including in live performance, fixed media art and interdisciplinary work. Students experiment with digital audio editing, analog circuitry and equipment, artificial intelligence and live coding. Students develop their creative voices as 21st century musicians using technology expressively.

AI in the Arts

Designed to meet the growing demand for integrating artificial intelligence in artistic practice, this minor equips students with the skills to incorporate AI into visual arts, dance, theatre, interactive media and music. The program provides a comprehensive education on the use of AI tools, emphasizing critical decision-making, ethical considerations and social implications.
