Biography

Dr. Michael Rugh is an associate research scientist for the LIVE Lab at Texas A&M University. He has a B.S. and M.S. in Mathematics and a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction. He received the Graduate Merit Fellowship from the Association of Former Students and was the College of Education and Human Development Distinguished Honor Graduate for Fall 2021. He has had multiple years of K–12 teaching experiences in mathematics and science, during which time he focused his research on informal learning opportunities through summer camps and project-based learning. At Texas A&M University, Dr. Rugh has taught Integrated Mathematics, Elementary Math Methods, and Problem Solving in Mathematics (undergraduate courses), as well as History and Trends of STEM Education and STEM Teaching and Learning (graduate courses). His research spans the fields of educational technology, project-based learning, mathematics education, and STEM education. As a researcher, he leads research teams to study topics related to game-based learning, educational video games, apps, simulations, and virtual environments for learning and assessment.
