‘Chad Cannon: Music for the Ocean’

The Academy for the Visual and Performing Arts presents this multimedia concert experience by composer-violinist Chad Cannon. It combines music, animation and sound design to create an immersive “nature documentary for the concert hall.” It features celebrated concert pianist Hui Wu, Emmy-winning animator Tim Rauch, tech/sound director William Chen and lighting designer Evan Murnane. The event is a fundraiser for Tela Coral, a nonprofit preserving endangered reefs in Tela, Honduras. A Q&A about ocean science with author Juli Berwald will follow. The event is cosponsored by the Texas A&M’s Department of Oceanography and the Gulf Scholars Program.
