The Visualization<\/a> program at Texas A&M gave Dominic Nguyen a path to explore his two passions of art and science.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Nguyen received his undergraduate degree in Visualization in May 2021, and is set to graduate Saturday with a Master of Fine Arts degree. Nguyen will also be honored as a distinguished student in the School of Performance, Visualization and Fine Arts<\/a>\u2019 Graduation Recognition Ceremony on Friday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI am very happy and honored to be recognized and selected for this award,\u201d he said. \u201cI hope to be one of the many symbols of success this program can be proud of. I believe this award should also recognize the stellar education that this school offers that I took advantage of, and honors all the faculty and students involved in propelling my growth and achievements.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Nguyen said he was proud of many projects he participated in, including the animated short \u201cForsaken,\u201d which was developed during the Summer Industry Course in 2023 and won the Best in Time Based Media award at Viz-a-GoGo-30<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIt was developed with my excellent and talented colleagues and wonderful mentors from DreamWorks Studios,\u201d he said. \u201cThis project allowed me to fully embrace the vertical studio setting with cooperation from relevant industry mentorship.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI am excited to take this opportunity to pursue opened doors in both industry and academia,\u201d he said. \u201cI am confident as I apply the education I have absorbed here to my personal growth and craft throughout my future years, these opportunities will continue to grow.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Nguyen said all of his professors had \u201can incredible impact\u201d on his college experience. He credits Courtney Starrett<\/a>, associate professor and graduate program director, and Sam Woodfin<\/a>, instructional assistant professor, for helping to develop who he is as an artist and a professional.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cCourtney\u2019s guidance helped motivate my body of work in my graduate career,\u201d he said. \u201cSam has been a strong column of support throughout my seven-year college experience, and has helped build my understanding as an artist and teacher.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Photo by Maleah Miller.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" The Visualization program at Texas A&M gave Dominic Nguyen a path to explore his two passions of art and science.
