Biography

Edgar Rojas-Muñoz is an Assistant Professor at the School of Performance, Visualization, and Fine Arts at Texas A&M University. His research focuses around exploring the uses of Mixed Reality (XR) for the Social Good. Dr. Rojas-Muñoz believes that XR is meant to become the User Interface of the future. However, the rate at which XR has been adopted by the general public needs to be increased. By taking XR from research labs into the real world, Dr. Rojas-Muñoz envisions that people will realize the potential XR has to assist them in their daily life.

Dr. Rojas-Muñoz completed his PhD degree in Industrial Engineering at Purdue University, as part of the Intelligent Systems and Assistive Technologies laboratory. He completed his Licenciate degree in Computer Engineering at the Costa Rica Institute of Technology. He has been part of multiple multidisciplinary projects involving healthcare, education, cultural preservation, tourism, among others. He has also worked as a Lecturer in the School of Computer Science at the Costa Rica Institute of Technology.
