It’s almost showtime for “The Post-America Variety Show.” On Thursday and Friday at 7 p.m., the Theatre program’s devised production takes the stage at Rudder Theatre. Tickets are available at the MSC Box Office.

Take a peek behind the curtain with our video highlighting the work by students, staff and faculty to create the show, including stage management, set construction, lighting and costume design.

“It is so many fingertips that are put on this show,” said Dan Monroe, stage manager. “That really makes it a beautiful process.”

The show is directed by Mike Poblete, Ph.D., instructional assistant professor; and Kat Rothman, M.F.A., visiting lecturer.

Christian Kahl, a senior Theatre student, is the scenic designer, working with Jeff Watson, scene shop supervisor and theatre facility coordinator.

Rayna Middleton Dexter, M.F.A., academic program director for Theatre and instructional associate professor, is the show’s costume designer with assistance by D’Mya Tabron, costume shop manager, and Tyler Martinka, a junior Theatre student.

The show’s lighting was designed by Rochelle Lopez, a sophomore Theatre student; and Lluvia Avina, a senior Performance and Visual Studies student.

Set in College Station after a catastrophic worldwide event in 2055, “The Post-America Variety Show” features students reflecting on the 2020s through music and dancing in a variety show format. Auditions began early in the semester, and the cast has been in rehearsals four nights a week.
