Watch Now: Music, Poetry And Visuals Come Together In ‘Disaster Divergence’

The event featured performances by Francisco Perez, D.M.A., instructional associate professor, and Lynn Vartan, D.M.A., associate professor in Music Performance.

Faculty and staff from across the College of Performance, Visualization and Fine Arts worked together earlier this year to create an evening of music, visuals, poetry and technology shaped by the impact of natural disasters.

“Disaster Divergence” featured performances by Francisco Perez, D.M.A., instructional associate professor, and Lynn Vartan, D.M.A., associate professor in Music Performance. Perez composed the eight new works for percussion duo and electronic accompaniment.

Visual projections, curated poetry and AI-driven American Sign Language interpretations combined to create an immersive and accessible experience for the performance in the courtyard of the Liberal Arts and Arts and Humanities Building

The event was inspired by natural disasters, including the Los Angeles wildfires earlier this year.
