In 2018, Choreographer, Carisa Armstrong, traveled to Budapest, Hungary. During this trip she was able to visit the memorial to the vicitims who were shot in the Danube. Shoes on the Danube was installed along the river in 2005 and since then visitors leave small rocks, flowers and candles to honor their memory. She was also able to tour the Dohany Street Synagogue and the Hungarian Jewish Museum that is attached. This area was the Jewish Ghetto during the war and serves as a reminder of the vicitims from Hungary. The synagogue on the Dohany street of Pest is not only the most impressive one in the country, but it’s the largest synagogue of Europe, the second largest one in the world. https://www.greatsynagogue.hu/gallery_syn.html

Raul Wallenberg Memorial Garden on the Great Synagogue’s north side, the Holocaust (or Emanuel) Tree of Life Memorial, designed by Imre Varga in 1991 and paid for by the late American actor Tony Curtis for his Hungarian-born father Emanuel Schwartz, stands over the mass graves of those murdered by the Nazis in 1944–45. On the leaves of the metal tree are inscribed the family names of some of the hundreds of thousands of victims. http://enmilev.weebly.com

The other photos included are of the Memorial to the vicitims of Geman Occupation that was errected by the Hungarian government. This is seen by credits as a whitewashing of the role that Hungary’s government and civilians had in the crimes of the Holocaust. There is a protest installation just in front of the monument with the stories of those persicuted and the Hungarian role in these situations.
