But Where There’s Hope, There’s Life begins their educational outreach at a local private school, Allen Academy. On April 30th the “HopeLife” cast will present the full performance using numerous locations throughout the school. Similar to the performances in downtown Bryan, the audience will be guided through the performance using a tour guide who will lead them to various classrooms in the middle and upper school, the WAC building, the breezeway between the upper and lower schools, and the commons where a Q&A will take place with the choreographers. The show will consist of film, audio recordings created by TAMU performance studies students, and visualizations by the Viz Department. Students and families can sign up for one of the performance times at the school with the Theatre faculty, Tasha Prescott. Choreographers will also return to the school to talk to the students about why this project started and how art can impact education and society. This event is free and funded through the grants awarded to this project. Future school presentations are in the works for Mesquite ISD, Round Rock ISD, and Klein ISD. Currently, the team is working on developing lesson plans to correspond with the performances. These lessons will be implemented in English, History, theatre, and dance classes at the schools prior to and after the performance.
