SUMMARY:Texas A&M Horn Choir and Trombone Fall Concert
DESCRIPTION:Hosted by the Music Performance program\, the Texas A&M Horn Choir and Trombone Choir will perform a joint concert at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church. The ensembles will perform music by Eric Ewazen\, John Danziger\, Amber Sheeran\, Madeline Lee\, Frank Ticheli and other composers. David Wilborn\, Ph.D.\, associate professor\, serves as the conductor of the Horn Choir. The Trombone Choir will be conducted by Wilborn and James Van Zandt\, Ph.D.\, director of orchestras. The choir will premiere a special arrangement of “Simple Song” from “Mass” by Leonard Bernstein as conducted by Susan Meyer Patterson\, band consultant and former band director from the Conroe Independent School District. The world premiere of “Simple Song” was arranged specifically for the choir by renowned band arranger/composer\, Merlin Patterson. The concert finale combines both brass choirs on a performance of “La Cathédrale” by Madeline Lee\, a moving work that was a reaction to the fire that damaged the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. The music evokes the beauty\, grandeur and architecture of the historic cathedral while reflecting upon the tragedy of the fire. The performance is free and open to the public.
