SUMMARY:Karen Hillier\, 'BRAZOSbrazos'
DESCRIPTION:Karen Hillier\, Stereo Photography\n“BRAZOSbrazos” showcases professor emerita Karen Hillier’s decade-long exploration of the Brazos River bottom\, capturing its shifting beauty and complexity through stereo pinhole photography. Hillier’s connection to the region grew from her childhood in Bryan\, where she observed the care and stewardship of local farming families. The exhibition reflects both the agricultural communities that shape the land and the broader forces of time and nature that transform it.“BRAZOSbrazos” is on display through Dec. 19 in the James R. Reynolds Gallery in the Memorial Student Center. An exhibition reception will be held on Oct. 1\, 2025.James R. Reynolds Gallery is open Tuesday-Friday from 9 a.m.–8 p.m.\, and Saturday-Sunday from noon–6 p.m.

SUMMARY:Emilie Duval\, ‘In Digital Elysium: Architectures of a New Reality’
DESCRIPTION:On display through Jan. 15 at Wright Gallery in the Langford Architecture Center\, Building A. Emilie Duval is a multidisciplinary artist whose abstractions of midcentury architecture are layered with fragmented perspectives that blur the boundaries between what’s real and virtual. In painting\, sculpture and animation\, she explores tension between physical and digital entities in her scenes of abstracted midcentury modern architecture and bright landscapes with mountains and palm trees. Gallery hours are Monday-Thursday from 8 a.m. to 7:45 p.m. and Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

SUMMARY:Graduate Student Artist Residency Showcase
DESCRIPTION:Nik Aberle\, a second-year Master of Fine Arts in Visualization student\, earned the inaugural Graduate Student Artist Residency — a partnership between the college and the Arts Center of Brazos Valley — and worked on his research throughout the semester. His installation features a red laser that visualizes sound waves from a speaker\, which is driven by the movements of people in the room. When people move and change positions\, five distance sensors cause the sounds that animate the laser to change. As more people enter the space and interact with the sensors\, the more active the laser pattern becomes. Hours are Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Arts Center will be closed for the holidays Dec. 21 through Jan. 4.
