Details

Merit scholarship towards the cost of tuition. Total scholarship divided over four years or prorated for two + three year conservatory programs. Scholarships are granted to high school juniors and seniors who demonstrate advanced technical skill, artistic interpretation, and overall excellence in their dance auditions.

Criteria

60K Dance Recognition Scholarship is contingent upon completion of required application materials and acceptance by the Director of Admissions. In order for this scholarship to renew each academic year, recipients must maintain the standards set forth in the Scholarship Acceptance Agreement. Recipients must enroll by or before Fall 2028 to utilize this scholarship. Conservatory/AOS/Advanced Certificate students will receive $15,000 per academic year. BFA students will receive $15,000 per academic year for a total of four years.

Curriculum

All AMDA dance programs offer a broad range of style technique training. Our dance degrees and dancing certificates provide training in diverse styles, preparing you to pursue multiple career opportunities. In addition to dance technique, you will also develop your innate talent through instruction in acting, musical theater performance, and vocal technique. You will be prepared to secure work immediately after graduation through courses that help you navigate the audition and rehearsal process.

Start your career in dance for TV, film, live music tours, entertainment venues and stage productions. AMDA is the school for you if you want to earn a dance degree or certificate and establish connections to the dance community while performing in Los Angeles or New York.

Summer, College/University – Summer Dance Intensive: Up to $500 or one full week | University Program scholarship is contingent on acceptance and entry level.

Details

The Summer Dance Intensive scholarship will cover one week of the two-week program held July 6-18, 2026 at Lamar University, including housing on campus and tuition. Student will be able to pick one week or the full two weeks to participate.

The University Program scholarship is for entry level majors accepted into the Lamar University Department of Theatre & Dance. Tuition scholarships begin at $1,000 per semester.

Criteria

The scholarship award is an automatic acceptance into the Summer Dance Intensive. Students must commit to the full intensive including performances.

The University Program scholarship is contingent on acceptance into Lamar University and completing the acceptance process for the department.

Curriculum

The Summer Dance Intensive includes three classes a day in modern, contemporary, ballet, improvisation, composition, theatre dance forms and cultural dance forms along with performance and choreography labs that conclude with a performance in the Festival Concert series. Classes are taught by select regional and national dance artists, performers and educators.

The Department of Theatre & Dance offers a Bachelor of Science in Theatre & Dance with an emphasis in dance. Students will get a well-rounded performing arts degree with a focus in dance performance and choreography along with theatre and technical design courses.

Summer – The Collegiate Summer Dance Intensive is a weeklong program that will be held June 14-20, 2026, at Texas A&M University. Cost of attendance includes tuition, on-campus housing and meals for the duration of the program.

College/University – High school juniors and seniors will be evaluated for acceptance into the B.S. in Dance Science major.

Criteria

Summer – Dancers must be aged 14 or up on or before June 14, 2026, to participate in our 2026 summer intensive.

College/University – High school seniors must have already applied to Texas A&M University for fall 2026 admission.

Curriculum

Summer – The Collegiate Summer Dance Intensive classes will include ballet, modern, jazz, hip hop, Pilates, dance science, choreography and more. Rising high school seniors may use the event as their audition for acceptance to the B.S. in Dance Science major for Fall 2027 admission. Learn more about the summer intensive here.

College/University – The B.S. in Dance Science degree focuses on dance research, anatomy, nutrition, conditioning, injury prevention and care and biomechanical principles within dance technique. Electives within the degree allow students to tailor their degree to their career goals such as medical school (PT, OT, AT, etc.), dance education, and professional dance. The USF Summer Dance Week is designed as a weeklong series of intensive classes and workshops. Each day will be structured to have at least 3-4 classes in a variety of forms and styles. These will include contemporary/modern dance, improvisation, ballet, commercial dance, composition and more!  Additionally, dancers will be learning new and repertory choreography that they will perform in the end-of-intensive performance.
